If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time, you know that there are several related focuses here:
- Budgeting tips for people living on less than a shoe-string budget. This led to a secondary focus
- Foraging – Also known around this blog as Wild Adventures.
- Online Income generation
Foraging led to the creation of Ashtree Wildcrafting last summer, which is currently only an online business, or products sold at craft fairs. We hope to have one more ingredient approved by Health Canada and then we can get into stores with our wildcrafted looseleaf tea.
But how does one go about putting an online business together? How do you get a website going? How do you get your customers? What about taxes? What about supplies? What about shipping if you want to offer a tangible product?
There is literally a ton of information online to help you answer those questions, particularly if you are looking for information for the Canadian, UK, Australian, or US markets. Knowing how to run successful searches in your favourite search engine helps to get you most information fairly quickly, but if you aren’t well-versed in how to do online research, you may be tempted to purchase courses at the local college, or buy books off Amazon that may be a few years out of date, or sit there paralyzed not knowing where to even begin!
It seems that almost every week, there is yet another “business guru” out there charging a hefty fee claiming you won’t find what they have to offer anywhere else. I’m not sure what can be so exclusive as to warrant such claims, but I can say I’ve found probably the least expensive manner in which you can still get the information you need without breaking the bank.
