Welcome to the Virtual Book Tour for, “A Year In Prayer With Jesus”! We have just three stops left on tour and this week has two of those blog stops.
We are pleased to feature Jim Hughes again. Jim has written a book entitled, “C Through Marriage” and he shares this about how it came to be:
C Through Marriage is my baby. In the beginning, I had no idea she would even be born. I had no idea she was even in me. Her coming to life was a very long process, some twenty years in the making. I believe that it took so long because the Lord had so much to teach me about marriage and how my faith would impact it. Before He would let ‘C Through Marriage’ live, I had to do some living beforehand.
Once the birthing process began, it did not take long for her to come to life. She had quite a start in life and grew very quickly. It seemed like all I had to do was to sit back and watch her grow. Her life just came out of me naturally. While I tried to keep myself occupied with many other things during her developing life, I was constantly drawn back to her and could not stop feeding her. Before I scarcely knew what was happening, she was all grown up and ready to meet the world.
I wasn’t sure if she was ready or even if the world would accept her. But the Lord reassured me that she indeed was ready through the observations of my wife and our nephew, who is a Christian counselor. They encouraged me to let her leave the nest and go out into the world, and the rest is as they say, history.
C Through Marriage deals with everyday issues that most couples deal with, especially within the Christian community. It deals with mainly relational issues and provides guidance on how to improve the quality of one’s marriage. I cover forty-eight different “C” topics and endeavor to deal with them from a Biblical perspective. It is not cumbersome reading, is practical, and challenges the reader to work consistently on marriage so that it can be the kind of a marriage God intended it to be.
My name is Jim Hughes. I am a retired pastor and now author. I was born and raised in IN, but have lived in IA for almost 40 years. I graduated in 1970 from Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN with a B.A. in pastoral studies. I first met my wife on the college campus in 1969 and we were married in 1973. We have two adult children who are married, a 14 yr. old son still at home, and two granddaughters. I am ordained in the Churches of God, General Conference. Most of my ministry has been in bi-vocational churches. My book, C Through Marriage, was published in 2009 through Tate Publishing & Enterprises.
