As my Natural Health Practitioner Diploma studies wrap up this coming week, The Spike Relief Workshop is taking shape, spawned a week ago from a daydream in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep. As I spoke to others about the daydream, they encouraged me to go for it, and I began an outline, a write up to go with it, and began to share it. A couple days later, I threw together a photo compilation from commercially-free-to-use images I have in a folder. One of the images I put into that compilation was the picture of an open Bible.
It is important for me to separate myself from other holistic practitioners out there, and clearly state up front that I do natural health God’s way! Not the Taoist way, not the Hindu way, not the earth worship way, not the New Age way, not the Pagan way, God’s way! Contrary to various Christian teachers out there on natural health, this actually does mean eating animal and dairy products. Why? God stipulates it in His Word.
As I contemplated building a group for my new career online, and as I played around with a new service (that still has bugs apparently), I needed graphics for that and I wanted something that would blend God’s Word with imagery that most would attribute to natural health using food as medicine. I found some nice imagery to put with the Bible image and I’m busy creating various takes on the theme when I found myself looking at a blown-up version of the Bible image and realized part of it was readable!
One verse I could make out was this:
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Psalms 84:10
When I realized the verse I was looking at, the textbook I’m finishing was talking about how stress impacts the health system the chapter was about at the time. I’ve been rather critical of my country’s governments, so-called “top doctors”, and media for fomenting persistently high stress levels over the past 2 years, practically ensuring massive swaths of population would get sick. Stress also impacts the body’s ability to heal. I wrote about stress twice last month.
While there are many reasons to be in our Father’s House, one of those reasons is the deliberate refocussing on God Himself, on Who He is, what He’s done, why He’s done it, and encouraging each other in the process. This act of refocus not only gives us a new perspective on situations we are going through, but acts as a release valve to drastically lower stress levels we walk in the door with. We can enter God’s presence anytime, anywhere, alone or with others. If we shift our focus off ourselves and off our circumstances for the bulk of our time in God’s presence, we will experience the same lifting of stress off our shoulders alone as in the presence of others.
But it doesn’t matter what role we have in God’s House, and anyone who has followed me for any length of time prior to 2020 will know, the one role you generally won’t find me in is “pew warmer”, it doesn’t matter what role we have in God’s House, nothing beats being in His presence and having the stress of life just melt away for that duration of time!
I will continue to use this particular graphic going forward. More than any other personage out there, God the Creator, God Who created you and me, knows how we work better than anyone! We weren’t built to live in heightened, persistent levels of stress! If I sense stress is keeping you ill, you can bet I’ll be encouraging you to enter into God’s presence to release it into His capable hands. You’ll be healthier for it. Trust me.
